Strider and I met many years ago when 40plus first started back on the Quarterdeck server. He was one of those 'characters' that made the room fun all the time and he always made me laugh. We were just channel friends for many years until late 1997. He was going through a rough time personally and we talked for hours for probably the first time in all those years. It was a serious side of him that I had never seen before. He made his feelings known to me at this time and caught me totally by surprise! 40plus was planning a big road trip to Las Vegas and in March 1998, we met for the first time in person. It was an instant and comfortable attraction for both of us and we felt like we had known each other forever. I returned home to Australia after Vegas and another 9 months passed before he made a trip to Sydney and we were able to see each other again in January 1999. We were able to incorporate his trip with a beautiful South Pacific cruise before separating again for another 9 months. During this period, Strider decided to leave his boring job in Oklahoma City and go back to working with radars. He put his resume on the net and got a contract working in Venezuela in June 1999. I visited him in Venezuela in September 1999 for 6 weeks before having to return home to Australia again to finalise my divorce. 6 months later, after my divorce was final in April 2000, I was able to rejoin him in Venezuela. After 3 years of living there, Strider has finally gotten the transfer that we have been waiting for and we moved back to the US in Dec 2002. Hopefully we can begin a normal life back in civilisation now. It has taken us a long time...but we both feel the wait was worth it! Love can be right under your nose and with someone that you least expect...and at a time when you least expect it!
