A Veterans Plight
As I sit here in the early morning light
The fresh fallen snow making the world so white
I na a thing to do but contemplate my plight.
You see, to God and Country we gave our prime years
For that we are left with nothing but disappointment and fears
For this country we fought her war and dedicated our life
Duty done, she leaves us in strife
Our duty to always protect her
Yet her promises an empty blur
We have protected her and our peers
yet she only leaves us with fears
This great country we have bled for just turns its back
For this you can yourself see the benefits veterans lack
Our day comes when it is time
To turn in the uniform from our prime
We look to our country we served with distinction and pride
for simple work so the laws we may abide
All those we served to keep them free
only their backs do we see
There seems to be no work for the warriors which are we
The highest trust she put in us, to do a job that most would flee
We were only Soldiers of no fame
So why do you give us so much blame
We have spent our lives in mud and rain
endured for this country so much pain
You turn your backs not even giving us a glance
Our simple wish is to join your world and be given a chance
You see now it's not our country but our peers
Who have left us disillusioned and with fears
For us who have fought for freedom will relish the taste
For those who have not will it they only waste
You take our country's freedom for granted
Just never forget those soldiers we have planted
For those Soldiers who have survived
Simply want the opportunity for our families to provide
For only us who were all we could be
Will ever understand DUTY HONOR COUNTRY
